VINTAGE  JEWELRY

Vintage  or  retro  or  even antique,  it  is  important  to  remember that these pieces   have been  worn   and   are not in perfect  condition. There  will  be  some  wear and tear. I   generally  do  not  clean  them  beyond  a  wipe  down   with  a  jewelry  cleaning cloth. I  do  inspect   crystals,  pearls and  rhinestones   for  looseness   and missing  items.   I  will  not  sell  a  piece   that  has  loose or missing  stones as it  is  too  difficult  to replace them.

With  rhinestone jewelry,  stones may  darken over time,  but as long  as  the  stone is intact,   I  will  sell  a  piece with  darkened  stones.   I  do  not  view  stones  darkened  with  age   as a defect. 

Where  possible,   I  will   give  the  designer if marked  and  if a  piece is sterling   or   real  gold.  If   it  does not  say  it in the  description,   it  probably  has no  stated   designer  and the  metal   will  not be   gold  or  sterling.  The  same with  stones....if   I  do  not  put  genuine   XXX in  a  description,   it  is  probably  faux   pearls, and  gemstones.

 I  also have  no  idea  of the  history  of the  piece  before   I  acquire  it.   After it comes  to  me,   I  store   in   bags  or  boxes with   silica  packs  tp  absorb  moisture to  prevent   tarnish and oxidation   I  also  store   in a  smoke-free  environment   and  away  from pets.
